Indians are celebrating Holi, the Hindu festival of colors which comes at the end of the winter season and marks the beginning of spring. On the day of Holi, people throw colored powder and liquids at each other. The festival also symbolizes a new beginning for Hindus to end conflicts and let go of emotional impurities from the past. In India, Holi means the arrival of spring and the passing of the winter. Festival of Colors-HOLI is a fun event with live bands, DJ’s, interactive dance, color throws, yoga, food and much more. A multicultural event which brings the community together. Some of the biggest celebrations take place in the temples of Vrindavan, a town in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, where, according to legend, the Hindu god Krishna played Holi with his consort Radha.
Indian-Americans from all over the Bay Area will will be gathering at the Cardoza Park in Milpitas to celebrate the start of spring with the Festival of Colors, Holi, on 18-MAR-2017 Saturday afternoon at 11.00 AM to 3.00 PM
The festival, which is being organized by the Rajasthan Association of North America California to celebrate Holi, is expected to attract thousands of families, devotees and community members throwing colorful powders on one another to the thumping beat of live music and Rajasthan Stryle
In order to reduce pollution, skin irritants and make the festival environmentally friendly, the colors are biodegradable and skin-friendly. First time attendees are advised to wear light or white clothing for the best possible Holi experience.
